Moxie Movement Mission

Moxie Movement Dance Co. is a brand new and growing business with a main focus in Latin dance, specifically Salsa and Bachata. We aim to grow communities in a variety of ages and abilities teaching these dances. We offer classes to both kids, adults, and even inter-generational classes. Moxie Movement also strives to connect everyone with the arts, no matter their background. Integrated into the logo, and a very close subject to the owner, Amber Logan, Moxie Movement strives to bring awareness to ability in dance and the disease Cystic Fibrosis. It is called Moxie Movement because movement is important for everyone’s health, and though a dance company focused in salsa and bachata at heart, we also offer other styles as Moxie Movement focuses on empowering individuals no matter race, age, ethnicity, financial stability, and ABILITY, as Dance is for ALL.

Owner and Creator
Amber Logan

My name is Amber Logan and I began dancing by age 3. However, my love for salsa and bachata came later in life, approximately 10 years ago. I accidentally stumbled into an Argentine Tango class at a studio, looking for a modern class! Instantly I felt more connected to people than I ever have. Just choreography wasn’t for me, I realized, and I made my way into the largest social dance scene: salsa and bachata. After solidifying my technical foundation, I worked my way from a “taxi dancer,” to an assistant teacher, to teacher. After working at Born2Dance, studio Lioudmila, and more, I was hired by Glen Echo Park where the salsa and bachata scene has suffered greatly since COVID. Largely trained in salsa on1, though also known mambo on2, and Rueda de Casino, I can lead and follow most variations of salsa. I have training from Alex and Desiree Worldwide in Dominican Bachata, but also do some sensual. I am certified by Boston Ballet adaptive dance program and have a background in integrative and holistic therapy for children and families. As a cystic fibrosis transplant patient, I strive to make a company that values inclusivity in every since of the word.

Tyrone Barnes and Kat Boroday

Tyrone, who labels himself an artist in every sense of the word, has a large sensual bachata and salsa on1 background as a lead. Kat is a follow and beginnning to lead occasionally. She received some of her training from Amber personally in salsa on1 and also has a background in various bachata styles. These two are important assistant teachers for Moxie Movement Dance Company. The company supports their growth however far they see that going. Tyrone and Kat were and continue to be some of Amber’s largest support system.

Goals

By January 2026 this will be a fully operating business at Dance Place, Glen Echo Park, and more. All business aspects that need to be completed, largely websites and branding, will be complete and advertised. Currently working with all ages at Dance Place and Glen Echo, we look to bring the joy, empowerment, community, and the mental and physical health of dance, specifically Salsa and Bachata, throughout the entire DMV. We value community and adaptability to all ages and abilities in our mission to spread our knowledge.
